Drawing Dreams, Healing Hearts - Session 3

Igniting Resilience and Creativity: Drawing Dreams, Healing Hearts
Session 3: Drawing Dreams, Healing Hearts
📍 Bann Nok Kamin Foundation, Bangkok – January 11, 2025
On January 11, 2025, the Save One Another Foundation (SOAF) hosted the third "Drawing Dreams, Healing Hearts" session at the Bann Nok Kamin Foundation in Bangkok. This session welcomed 52 children of various age groups, reinforcing SOAF’s unwavering commitment to nurturing hope, resilience, and self-expression through creativity.
Creative Exploration Across Age Groups
The session was carefully structured to cater to different developmental stages, ensuring that every child had an engaging and meaningful experience:
🎨 Young Children (Ages 2-4):
The youngest participants painted plaster figures, an activity designed to develop focus, coordination, and self-expression. Guided by encouraging mentors, they explored colors and shapes, fostering a sense of artistic joy and wonder.
🖌️ Older Children (Ages 10-15):
The older group took part in a thought-provoking art workshop, which encouraged:
🔹 Self-reflection – Understanding emotions through artistic expression.
🔹 Open dialogue – Sharing personal perspectives in a safe space.
🔹 Dream visualization – Using creativity to illustrate hopes for the future.
Through these activities, children articulated their emotions, fears, and aspirations, finding comfort and connection through the healing power of art.
Inspiring Dreams and Building Resilience
This session embodied the vision of Dr. Gregg Tyler Milligan, who believes that art is a transformative tool—one that ignites dreams and strengthens resilience in young minds. By providing a nurturing space where children feel heard, valued, and empowered, SOAF continues its mission of inspiring hope and personal growth through the transformative power of art.
One particularly touching moment came when a shy 5-year-old girl, initially hesitant to participate, gained confidence and proudly displayed her painted figure. Her joy was a testament to the transformative power of SOAF’s programs, where creativity fosters self-belief and emotional healing, and it was a moment that filled us all with pride and hope for her future.
A 14-year-old participant shared:
"Before today, I thought my dreams didn’t matter. Now, I see that my voice and my art have meaning."
